But pure what? Devastation looms, and our country will be forever altered because of Katrina’s temper tantrum. Some even say that Mississippi has had its own tsunami. Many even categorize Katrina as the worst natural disaster in our nation’s history.

With such cataclysmic results comes the realization of our vulnerability. We regret our arrogance and pride in thinking our nation immune to calamity of this magnitude. Though the brunt of pain and suffering will be experienced by Gulf of Mexico residents for perhaps years to come, a world weeps with them.
